EXPLORE OUR PROGRAMMES AT RTC
At Regent Training Centre you can choose a course that is both relevant and interesting to you. Programmes have been chosen for their relevance in their local regions, and for the ability for learners to pathway on from them to higher education and/or employment locally.
Programmes are developed in conjunction with the various industries and also our students, to make sure that the content is up to date and fresh.
All courses are approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and are zero fees for 16 to 19 year olds (even 15 year olds if you have a Ministry of Education early leaving exemption from school). All courses lead to New Zealand or National Certificates and most to nationally recognized Vocational Pathway awards as well.
Intensive Literacy and Numeracy
The rewards for completing such a programme extend far beyond just Literacy, English and Maths. There are improvements in learning how to learn, health and wellbeing, social skills and confidence. Motivation is gained which leads to learners seeing their own potential and the limitless opportunities out there for them to grasp and take hold of.

Health and Fitness
This programme is focused on practical activities designed to increase your confidence, mental and physical well-being, whilst raising your study, social and life skills. The course is a solid stepping-stone onto higher learning in any field of your choice.
Hospitality
Everyone seems to be after a good coffee these days, and that is just one of the practical skills that you will gain with Regent Training. “Real life” food preparation, means that by the end of the programme, you are well placed to move onto higher level culinary learning, or even start employment in an entry level role in a food establishment. Students also gain credits towards NCEA.

Automotive
Under the guidance of experienced and encouraging tutors, automotive students learn practical skills in the workshop, while also gaining credits towards NCEA. Students who struggled at school find that learning comes quite naturally in the workshop environment while getting learning support in a classroom environment.
Building and Carpentry
With Regent Training Centre you will spend most of your time in the workshop or out on external building sites whilst completing your national qualifications. Your literacy and numeracy skills will continuously be improving, and NCEA will be gained while you work on various building projects to increase your practical skill set.

Computing (Information Computing and Technology)
With encouragement and support from highly skilled tutors, students will gain not only basic computing skills but also practical knowledge of databases, hardware (troubleshooting and repairs), website development, gaming design and production. Graduates are well placed for further studies within the ICT industry.
